|
|
Hi Phil,
I would love to see an option to preserve the hierarchy on import/export.
When I Export a file from C4D to OBJ format, the objects are separate.
I open the file in UVL, do the UV stuff and save the file.
Now when I import the file back in Cinema4D, all the separate objects are combined in one poly object.
I would love to see UVL saves the file as it was opened, ea with the hierarchy intact.
See attachment.
On the left before the export in Cinema4D.
On the right after the UV's are done in UVL and imported back to C4D.
You see that all the separate objects are imported as 1 poly object.
Normally when I export and import the hierarchy is preserved. Only when I save in UVL and import this into Cinema4D I see this behaviour.
Peace,
Rich_Art. |

Have you tried the "Update" button instead of the usual "Save"? You select the original OBJ file, then UVLayout makes a copy and modifies it with the new UVs, leaving all the other information intact.

Hi Phil,
Thanks. I totally forgot the update function. With the update instead of save, the hierarchy stays intact indeed. Cool....

I do hope to someday fix it so there's just a "Save" button; it'll preserve the materials/grouping info automatically without having to select the original OBJ.

Hi Phil,
Sounds cool although now that I know I must use the update button it is fine as it is now. at least for me it is.
